As part of Glencore’s Graduate Program, you will: 

• receive structured, professional development with a real focus on-the-job experience
• have scheduled networking and social events with other graduates and members of the senior management teams
• be mentored by experienced professionals in your field and receive practical support from business leaders
• complete a structured Graduate Professional Development Program designed to accelerate your leadership potential, and

Apprenticeship programs

We’re proud to be one of Australia’s largest natural resource sector employers that offer in-house apprenticeships. Our programs support a variety of trades, including electrical, mechanical, fabrication, plumbing, carpentry and diesel fitting.

Glencore provides an opportunity to earn while you learn. Our four-year Apprenticeship Programs will enable you to develop your skills, gain experience and expand your knowledge with new challenges and opportunities along the way.

Applications for our Apprenticeship Programs typically open in May each year, although this can change year to year. Each year we undertake two major recruitment drives:

• Glencore Coal Apprenticeship Program
• Glencore Metals Apprenticeship Program (copper and zinc).

Vacation programs

The Vacation program provides 12 weeks of paid work experience during the university summer break, allowing students to use theoretical knowledge in a mining environment. To be eligible, students must have completed at least one full year of study.

These roles are residential, and you will be expected to relocate to the local area for the duration of the 12-week program. Accommodation is provided as part of the package if you need to relocate. 

The program enables you to gain hands-on experience on a mine site, serving as a pipeline for a Graduate career with Glencore.

Indigenous employment programs

Both our Queensland Metals and Coal Australia businesses run supported Indigenous employment programs across Queensland and New South Wales. Participants receive ongoing support, including mentorship from fellow Indigenous employees. Upon completion, they have an opportunity to be selected to progress into full-time employment with us or a contracting partner.

School leavers

The Glencore Queensland Metals School Leavers Program provides an exciting opportunity for local year 12 students in Mount Isa and Cloncurry to explore a career in the resources industry. It includes opportunities in a variety of roles, including technical services intern, junior labourer and junior administration.
