The operation is located 25 kilometres north-west of Singleton in the Upper Hunter Valley, New South Wales.
In February 2019, Liddell Coal was granted modifications to its development consent DA 305-11-01-(Mod. 7). The approved modifications related to rehabilitation and other matters.
Liddell Coal is operated and managed by Liddell Coal Operations Pty Ltd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Glencore Coal, on behalf of a joint venture between Glencore (67.5%) and Mitsui Matsushima Australia (32.5%).

- Hunter Valley Fly Fishing Club – multi-year restocking of Lake St Clair with native Australian Bass fingerlings
- Men's Health Education Rural Van – providing health check-ups to men in the Hunter Valley at various pop-up locations
- Singleton Gymkhana Club – providing safety equipment, first aid and safety training to increase the capacity of the club to run local events.
