Responsible sourcing

Recognising the increased demands for responsible sourcing and supply chain due diligence throughout the commodity value chain, Glencore published Supplier Standards in March 2019 and then in 2022 our Supplier Code of Conduct. The Supplier Code of Conduct applies to any individual, organisation or company that provides, sells or leases materials directly to Glencore companies, including goods and services. Our supplier contracts reference our Supplier Code of Conduct.

As a nickel and cobalt producer and refiner, in addition to mining our own ore, we may also purchase third-party feed. To strengthen our commitment to responsible sourcing and to support the commitment of our global customers, Murrin Murrin underwent a third-party audit against the Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI) Pilot Cobalt Refiner Due Dilgience Standard in November 2019. 

Our conformance status with RMI Standards was assessed and verified and was publicly listed on the RMI Cobalt Refiners List. Murrin Murrin then undertook a re-assessment in October 2021 and again in 2023 to obtain conformance status for both nickel and cobalt against the RMI standards.
