Celebrating our multicultural Mines Rescue team

Our Mines Rescue team, a critical component of Mount Isa Mines' 24-hour frontline emergency response, is a testament to the multicultural diversity within our workforce. With team members hailing from 12 different nationalities, our Mines Rescue team exemplifies the rich cultural blend that defines our operations.

The Mines Rescue team plays an essential role in our on-site emergency management, ready to respond to any situation at a moment's notice. In 2024, we are proud to have representatives from Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Tanzania, South Africa, Indonesia, Chile, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Wales, New Zealand and Australia.

Ron Pippenbacher, Supervisor for Mine Rescue emphasises the value of having such a diverse team.

“With employees from many different nations, it makes for a great learning environment, as we can share key learnings from experiencing different safety systems,” says Ron.

  • The Mines Rescue team members are highly skilled professionals, trained to handle on-site emergency situations with precision. To ensure they are prepared for any emergency, team members must pass an annual fitness test. This test includes challenging scenarios they might encounter during a rescue.
