Celebrating NAIDOC Week
Our operations proudly celebrated NAIDOC Week 2024, held from 7 to 14 July, with a series of on-site barbeques and an official flag-raising ceremony to honour the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
At Glencore, we are committed to recognising and respecting cultural heritage and the deep connections Indigenous peoples have with the land. We value the significant contributions Indigenous employees make to our company and the wider community.
Barbeque breakfasts were held on-site at the Zinc Lead Concentrator, Copper Concentrator, Isa Surface Fleet, Copper Smelter, X41, George Fisher Mine, IDC, and Site Services as an opportunity for our employees to acknowledge First Nations peoples and their connection with the Country.

To conclude the week, Mount Isa Mines participated in the NAIDOC Mob FM Family Fun Day at the Mount Isa Civic Centre. Our Human Resources and Community teams hosted a stall at the event, engaging with more than 500 attendees who enjoyed a day filled with markets and entertainment.

Indigenous Employment Program Coordinator, Clynton Munns says the events are a way for our workforce to come together to mark respect for Indigenous heritage and to acknowledge their contribution.
“It’s always great to celebrate NAIDOC Week and invite everyone to join us to across our many sites,” says Clynton.
“I especially enjoyed the monumental event of raising of our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags. It was a genuine honour being selected to raise them alongside Jai Kaivira.”
Our celebrations during NAIDOC Week are a reflection of our ongoing commitment to fostering respect and inclusivity within our operations and the broader community.
