R U OK? Day support shines at our operations

Across Glencore Queensland Metals operations our teams came together for R U OK? Day on Thursday 11 September, creating an opportunity to check in on our colleagues and initiate meaningful conversations.

The day highlights the importance of looking out for one another and equipping individuals with the tools to initiate conversations, ensuring that support is always accessible.

Trudie Mason, Senior Health Advisor, says it’s a national day of action that encourages all of us to pause, to check in, and start a meaningful conversation about mental health and wellbeing.

“You don’t need to be a counsellor to initiate a conversation, all it takes is asking a thoughtful question and listening with an open mind,” says Trudie.

“There are a few simple steps to have a supportive conversation. One, ask are you Ok?, two, listen with an open mind, three, encourage action, and four, check in with a follow up chat.”

It’s important to check in regularly, listen attentively, encourage proactive steps, and follow up.
