A grand civic occasion - Cloncurry's Florence Clark Park transformed
The Cloncurry community recently celebrated the official unveiling of the transformed Florence Clark Park. The park was declared open on 13 October 2020 by Queensland Senator Susan McDonald and Cloncurry Mayor Greg Campbell.
Over the past two years, Cloncurry's Florence Clark Park has been redeveloped and the local community is now enjoying the new and improved central public space. Residents wasted little time taking advantage of the warmer weather as they put the new water park and splash-pad to the test.

The upgrades, valued at $2.5 million, were funded by the Australian Government, the Queensland Government, Cloncurry Shire Council and Glencore.
While the redevelopment took slightly longer than initially anticipated, the new municipal space incorporates a water park and splash-pad, barbeques, playground, skateable furniture, civic stage, new lighting, and other new amenities such as water bubblers, seating, wide footpaths and improved green spaces.

There is also a series of plaques with educational information on Cloncurry's history and key landmarks, with paths and lines of sight directing people through to visit the John Flynn Place Museum and Art Gallery.
Ernest Henry Mining General Manager, Aaron Harrison, says the project has created an accessible and comfortable outdoor space for residents and visitors of all ages to appreciate across all seasons.
Glencore provided $500,000 through Queensland Metals' Futures Fund program towards this project.
"We know our community are always looking for ways to enjoy the outdoors and this is the perfect place for the whole family," says Aaron.
"You really can't overstate the value of a great local park like this one. Local families and visitors will be enjoying this redevelopment for many years to come."

"This is why Glencore provided significant funding towards this project—as a business we aim to support initiatives that have broad reaching and long lasting benefits like this."
"I'd like to congratulate Cloncurry Shire Council on their hard work in redeveloping Florence Clark Park," Aaron says.
