Marking 30 years of NATA accreditation for the Analytical Laboratory

In March 2026, Mount Isa Mines’ Analytical Laboratory celebrated three decades of continuous accreditation by the National Association of Testing Authorities, Australia (NATA) marking a long-standing commitment to technical excellence, safety and reliable performance.

As Australia’s premier accreditation body, NATA authorises and certifies our Analytical Laboratory to carry out testing and analysis the equivalent of a professional commercial laboratory.

The accreditation covers a broad range of critical testing activities, including ambient air PM10 particulate monitoring, metals and alloy analysis, ores and minerals testing, and blood-lead analysis.

The laboratory applies a suite of robust analytical techniques, including high volume gravimetric, atomic absorption spectroscopy, gravimetric fire assay, and titration.

Thia Sher, Manager for Technical Services, says maintaining NATA accreditation underscores Mount Isa Mines and the analytical laboratory team’s dedication to safety, quality, and dependable performance.

“We will build on the past 30 years and continue this valuable partnership with NATA into the future,” says Thia.

“This milestone is shared with everyone who has been part of our team over the years, and I commend them for consistently upholding the highest industry standards.”
