Resources sector pipeline projects on show at North West MPX
The North West MPX, held in Mount Isa in May, brought together the resources sector to discuss regional projects. The conference focused on pipeline projects in the North West Minerals Province, with Glencore returning as a major sponsor for the three-day event and exhibition.
Emma Harman, President of Commerce North West said the conference provided an opportunity to discuss a range of projects from different commodities that offer the potential for the region to grow in strength and economic diversification.
“We have brought together many of the key regional mines, both established and prospective, and invited them to share where they are at with their project, where the challenges lie and what opportunities there are in the future,” says Emma.
Trevor Shaw, Glencore’s Manager for Exploration, Glencore Zinc Assets Australia, delivered a presentation on Glencore’s exploration program.
Trevor Shaw, Glencore's Manager for Exploration at Glencore Zinc Assets Australia, presented on Glencore's exploration program, emphasising the $60 million dollars invested in regional exploration from 2023 to 2024. He detailed Glencore's focus on discovering satellite feed, extending the life of Queensland Metals' mining and metallurgical assets, and renewing efforts on Greenfields zinc and copper exploration from Mount Isa to McArthur River.
Other speakers included Queensland Minister for Resources Scott Stewart, representatives from North West Phosphate, Harmony Eva Copper Mine, Maronan Metals, Red Metal, True North Copper, Incitec Pivot, Mount Isa Minerals, and Renegade Exploration.
