Clynton grew up in Mount Isa with the resources industry on his doorstep. Before venturing into the mining industry, he began his training career as a Field Officer for MIGATE (a Group Training Company) in 1998, managing 200 apprentices across the MIM lease.
In 2007, he joined MIM as a Mechanical Team Leader at the Skills Centre, where he expanded his skills as a leader while continuing to work with apprentices in the vocational and educational training space.
Clynton has made many valuable contributions to the company in a training and advisory capacity. He contributed to the development of some of the original Indigenous Employment Programs at MIM that led to Indigenous people engaging in full time employment, some of whom remain long-term employees of the company.

“His friendly, approachable manner supports a training environment that puts people at ease, while providing simplified training materials and methods to ensure learning is accessible to everyone.”
Clynton recently transitioned from his role as a Training Advisor to Coordinator for the Indigenous Employment Program at MIM.

“I’m passionate about apprentices and trainees gaining successful outcomes.”
“I work hard to support Indigenous people to enhance their skills and help them recognise there is a career path for them in mainstream employment,” Clynton said.
“I’d like to see more First Nations people show courage, self-determination, and set a good example for their families, and to inspire others to follow in their footsteps.”
