Glencore Queensland Metals is supporting our community
The Glencore Queensland Metals Community Assistance Program provides funding for local events, projects and initiatives across our North Queensland communities of Townsville, Cloncurry, Mount Isa and Camooweal to make them safer, happier, healthier and more sustainable.
We believe the communities that support our operations should benefit from our activities. Supporting grassroots organisations, community events and programs to improve the liveability of our communities are key goals of our Community Assistance Program.
Take a look at some of the recent initiatives we’ve funded.
Mount Isa Underground Hospital and Museum
Restoration project
Our funding will be directed towards the restoration of the timber support for the Underground Hospital and Museum. Maintenance is required to replace the timber support system to preserve the heritage listed site for locals, school groups and visitors to the region.
Secure Mine Solutions carried out the maintenance at the Underground Hospital and Museum which is a thriving tourist destination during the tourism season.
