Isa Surface Ops team assist with fighting bushfires

In a remarkable display of community spirit and solidarity, the Isa Surface Operations team at Mount Isa Mines stepped up to assist emergency services in the recent North West Queensland bushfire emergency.

The team, typically dedicated to their regular mining responsibilities, went above and beyond the call of duty to contribute to the collective effort to protect the Mount Isa community from the bushfires.

The Isa Surface Operations team, with their specialised skills and equipment, played a crucial role in supporting emergency services. One of the key contributions made by the team was the deployment of water trucks, dozers and graders to combat the fires effectively. These water carts, equipped with high-capacity water tanks, became a vital asset in the firefighting efforts, helping to quell the flames and protect surrounding properties.

Equipment operators Matt Goodger, Mel Stanke, Alex Martin, Bella Wigginton, Lauchlin Crowe, Martin Boulter, Curtis McDonald and Justin Dempsey were just some of the crew who assisted in the fire response near Breakaway Estate and Telstra Hill.
