Glencore wishes you a safe and joyful festive season

‘Tis the season for Christmas cheer at our Glencore Queensland Metals operations with employees coming together with family to celebrate the festive season.

Christmas parties were held during November and December in Mount Isa and Townsville to recognise the hard work and dedication of our employees across our operations.

The festive season started early in November with a Mount Isa Mines Christmas party held at Kruitschnitt Oval, and our Townsville Operations Christmas party was held in December.

"Glencore understands the importance of acknowledging our employees throughout the year. These Christmas parties are our way of expressing gratitude and providing a platform for our workforce to come together, relax, and celebrate the holiday season as a community," said Fiona Pascoe, Glencore's Human Resources Manager.

As always, one of the highlights of the evening was the arrival of Santa Claus, who made a grand entrance at the Mount Isa celebration on the back of a Mines Rescue vehicle. The crowd erupted in cheers as Santa, decked out in his traditional red suit, disembarked from the specialised vehicle, adding a unique and memorable touch to the celebrations.

  • Unfortunately, due to weather conditions, the second Mount Isa Christmas Party scheduled for 24 November was cancelled.

A special mention to the team that helped bring this all together. Without the Personal Assistant team and Administration staff across site, the Christmas celebrations wouldn’t be possible!

Mount Isa Mines also celebrated with the community, sponsoring the Mount Isa City Council’s Christmas Carols, which saw hundreds of people come together for the annual show at the Mount Isa Civic Centre.

In a year marked by challenges and triumphs, Glencore gives thanks to our employees, acknowledging their role in the continued success of our operations.

We wish you all a happy and safe festive season.
