A legendary partnership: Mount Isa Mines and Isa Rodeo
In the heart of the Australian Outback, where dust and determination define the landscape, a legendary partnership has thrived for decades between Mount Isa Mines (MIM) and the Isa Rodeo.
Mount Isa is known for its rich mining history and lively community. However, once a year, this remote city transforms into a hub of excitement and adrenaline as it hosts one of the country's most iconic events - the Mount Isa Mines Rodeo.
In 2023, this celebrated rodeo was bigger and better than ever before, drawing visitors from across the nation and around the world.
Over six days, residents and visitors enjoyed the festivities, including the Bell and Moir Toyota Rodeo Arena Ball, Mailman Race Day, Isa Rodeo Hall of Fame BBQ Dinner, the Mount Isa Street Festival featuring Darryl Braithwaite and the Mount Isa Mines Indigenous Rodeo Championships featuring Jessica Mauboy.
Then, over a final three days of intense competition, cowboys and cowgirls showcased their exceptional skills and sheer bravery in pursuit of the coveted titles and substantial cash prizes.
Eighteen-year-old Boston Leather, hailing from Calliope, made history this weekend by securing his place in the record books as the victor of the 2023 Mount Isa Mines Rodeo Open Bull Ride.
