Star Struck
Have you ever dreamed of performing in front of a huge crowd? It's a rare experience, but Star Struck makes it possible for students from the Hunter, Newcastle and Central Coast Regions to do just that every year.
Star Struck is a performing arts extravaganza presented by primary and high school students. The production symbolises diversity, opportunity, artistic ability, and above all, enjoyment for everyone involved.
Glencore has been part of the Star Struck journey since 2005 and became Principal Sponsor in 2012. Since then, we’ve invested more than $1 million into the production.
But the real value of our partnership goes beyond financial investment – it’s about the opportunity it creates for our regional students.
Martindale Public School is a fantastic example of our partnership opening doors for students.
A small school with big spirit
On the outskirts of Denman, you’ll find Martindale Public School, a small school that is emblematic of its tight-knit rural community.
The school has just eight students, four of whom performed on stage at the 2023 Star Struck event.
Martindale Principal Sharon Rivers said the school took a leap of faith auditioning for Star Struck, given they didn’t have the numbers required to perform.
“We only had four students, but we were eager to get involved,” Ms Rivers explained.
“The students were so excited when they found out they were going to be in the performance – they just screamed with excitement!”

A decade of support
Glencore is delighted to have been part of the Star Struck production for more than a decade.
In 2023 we celebrated our 11th year as Principal Sponsor and our overall support for the event surpassed the $1 million mark.
We’re proud that our investment helps to support the involvement of rural and regional schools like Martindale Public School.
