Media statement

Glencore is pleased to announce a $1,000,000 donation towards North Queensland flood recovery efforts.

We have been saddened by the devastating impact of the current weather event across North Queensland on thousands of Queenslanders, their homes, livelihoods and communities.

While we understand the region is still responding to these weather events, we are pleased to signal our commitment to assisting with recovery efforts.

Glencore will work in cooperation with the Townsville City Council and Queensland Government to make sure that these funds go to the most appropriate disaster relief organisations.

As one of the largest Queensland employers and businesses operating in the Townsville region for almost 60 years, we have close ties to local businesses and community groups throughout the region and understand how tough it can be to get back on your feet and keep going when something like this happens.

Our thoughts are with the families affected by these events.

Glencore has over 7,500 employees in Queensland across coal, copper and zinc mining operations, including Mount Isa Mines, Ernest Henry Mine in Cloncurry, and our copper refinery located in Townsville.
