Aussie businesses at the heart of Glencore’s $19.3 billion contribution to national economy

Glencore’s Australian operations contributed A$19.3 billion to the national economy in 2025, according to its annual economic contribution report produced by PwC.
At a time when cost-of-living pressures continue to test the economic resilience of communities and families, Glencore is proud to play a role in providing jobs and supporting homegrown businesses big and small.
Glencore is one of Australia’s largest producers of coal and critical minerals. Last year our company:
- Supported jobs for 16,820 employees and contractors
- Spent $14.21 billion on goods and services
- Supported 6,440 Australian-based businesses
- Paid $2.4 billion in taxes, royalties and rates to governments
Nick Talintyre, Finance Lead for Glencore in Australia, said Glencore’s 2025 contribution highlighted the continued importance and strength of Australia’s mining sector.
“From local cafes, cleaners and trades to major equipment, transport and mining services providers we gratefully acknowledge the thousands of people, businesses and communities that help keep the Australia’s resources sector operating.
“We believe mining matters for every Australian. While our operations are in the regions our contribution extends beyond these and into the cities: from the Hunter Valley, Mount Isa, Emerald, Borroloola and the WA Goldfields, through to Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.
“Our people are the heart of everything we do and we acknowledge their ongoing commitment to working safely and responsibly so that we can continue to contribute to the national prosperity.”
