Glencore is pleased to announce Aleisha Saxby has been named Exceptional Young Woman at the 2026 NSW Women in Mining Awards, recognising her outstanding contribution to the mining industry.
Aleisha is currently Process and Logistics Superintendent at Glencore’s Ulan Surface Operations (USO) and has built an impressive career defined by a strong drive to succeed.
Since joining Glencore through the Graduate Program in 2021, Aleisha has progressed through the business and, in 2024, became the first female Production Superintendent at USO.
She has led major operational and capital projects that delivered significant production and financial outcomes, including leading a reject reprocessing project.
Aleisha is also a passionate advocate for STEM education and industry engagement. She has mentored graduates, supported university and school outreach programs, and represented mining at community and industry events to inspire future engineers, particularly young women, to pursue technical careers.
Glencore Coal Australia Chief Executive Officer Peter Sharpe congratulated Aleisha on her achievement.
“We’re incredibly proud to see Aleisha receive this well-deserved recognition for her accomplishments and contributions,” Peter said.
“The NSW Women in Mining Awards play an important role in recognising and celebrating the achievements of women, as well as champions of gender equality, across the resources sector. The calibre of nominees is a strong reflection of the outstanding work being done throughout the industry.
“Congratulations to Aleisha, and to all the award winners and finalists.”
Aleisha said the award marked an important milestone in her career.
“I’m incredibly honoured to receive this award,” Aleisha said.
“I’m grateful for the experiences and the people who have helped shape my journey, and for the support that has enabled me to embrace new opportunities, tackle challenges and grow.
“This recognition is also a testament to the mentors, colleagues and my family who have supported me along the way.”
