We prioritise the health and safety of our people.

This involves championing a positive workplace culture that recognises the critical role our people play in our success.

Our primary goal is the elimination of any work-related fatalities and serious injuries in our industrial assets. We take a proactive, preventative approach towards health and safety, and we are committed to providing a safe workplace.

Safety is always a priority for our operations and our people.

The SafeWork program

SafeWork is our approach to eliminating work-related fatalities.

SafeWork has a set of minimum expectations and mandatory fatal hazard protocols, life saving behaviours and safety tools, which all our industrial assets must implement.

Training and development

We invest heavily in selecting, training and developing our people to ensure they have the skills to identify hazards and take appropriate action to control these in their workplaces. Safety is everyone's responsibility.

Our robust systems are regularly assessed to determine if they are effective and efficient, and to identify opportunities for improvement using various technologies.

The addition of eLearning allows people the flexibility to learn at their own pace, anytime and anywhere. It incorporates a range of media that delivers text, audio, images, animation and streaming video, designed to enhance the learning experience and outcome.

Health and wellbeing

The health and wellbeing of our employees is equally important. We promote, educate and support our workforce in making healthy lifestyle choices and recognise the importance of good mental health.

We provide our employees with access to a range of preventative health programs designed to support both fitness for work and long-term wellbeing. These complimentary health promotion initiatives include skin cancer screening clinics, workplace fitness and wellbeing challenges, annual influenza vaccination programs, and smoking cessation support and education. Through these programs, we aim to promote healthier lifestyles, prevent illness, and support our people to remain healthy, safe, and productive both at work and throughout their lives.

Employee Assistance Program (EAP)

Glencore provides employees and their immediate family members with access to a confidential Employee Assistance Program (EAP). The service offers professional support to help manage personal and work-related challenges, with additional wellbeing services including nutritional, career, financial and legal advice.

Peer Support Program

We recognise that people often turn to trusted colleagues for support before accessing formal services. Glencore's Peer Support Program equips employees across the business with the skills and resources to provide peer-to-peer support, fostering a caring and connected workplace culture.

Medical and Injury Management Support

Workers have access to emergency medical treatment and injury management services through onsite medical facilities, with telehealth consultations available to ensure timely access to healthcare and ongoing support when required.

Health Surveillance

Glencore conducts health surveillance programs to support the early detection and management of potential occupational illnesses associated with workplace exposures. Our approach is aligned with regulatory requirements and is guided by evidence-based industry best practice. Exposure controls are regularly monitored, reviewed, and audited to ensure they remain effective and operate as intended, helping to protect the health and wellbeing of our workforce and local community.

We invest significant resources in systems, processes and communication to protect the health and safety of our workers.
