Responsible for infrastructure and supply contracts valued at over $6 billion in annual expenditure, Anthony Pitt, Glencore Coal Australia’s Director of Logistics and Procurement, has seen firsthand the scale and complexity behind keeping a mining business moving.
From major contracts and critical infrastructure to some of the more unusual purchases made across our operations, Anthony answers a range of revealing questions in our video series, 'Digging Into'.
Anthony holds degrees in Commerce and Economics and has built a career spanning decades across infrastructure and logistics companies. Over more than 17 years with Glencore, he has played an important role in supporting the movement of coal from mine to port and helping ensure the goods and services needed across our coal operations are delivered safety, efficiently and reliably.
Speaking about what makes the role so interesting, Anthony says.
“I am fortunate to work with some of the smartest, commercially astute and committed people across Glencore Coal Australia. We have enormous autonomy to engage with infrastructure providers, governments, regulators and suppliers to drive improved efficiency of our supply chains to help keep Glencore and the coal export industry competitive on a global scale. No two days are the same – but it is the people that I get to work with who make it fun.”
