A $139,000 sponsorship by Glencore has provided a 6.2m vessel to assist the Gudjuda rangers, part of the Queensland Indigenous Land and Sea Rangers.

The new vessel is not only a great asset for the group, but has also been the catalyst for new skilling programmes for the Gudjuda Rangers, including coxswains certificates, vessel operation competency and safety management systems training.

It will improve important turtle research off the north Queensland coast, and enhance other activities, such as wetland care and management, as well as helping the local community in the event of natural disasters such as flooding and cyclones.
